Mēlopepō is a luminous Hazy IPA that captures the essence of summer through its velvety texture and the refreshing addition of watermelon juice. The Citra hops provide a vibrant citrus foundation of lime and grapefruit, while El Dorado hops amplify the profile with notes of tropical stone fruit and a candy-like sweetness that bridges perfectly into the fresh watermelon character. This collaboration results in a soft, round palate where the bready malt acts as a supportive stage for the fruit-forward explosion. It finishes with a gentle, restrained bitterness, leaving a lingering impression of refreshing melon and sun-drenched tropical orchards.
Appearance. 4-7 SRM. Glowing pale gold to light orange with an opaque, hazy shine. Dense, meringue-like white head with high retention and thick lacing.
Aroma. High intensity fruity aroma dominated by fresh watermelon and tropical fruits. Citra contributes distinct notes of grapefruit and lime zest, while El Dorado offers pear and tropical candy scents. Background notes of bready, neutral malt and subtle fruity esters from the yeast fermentation.
Taste. Initial burst of fresh watermelon juice and sweet tropical fruit. Mid-palate reveals Citra-driven citrus punch and El Dorado stone fruit complexity. Low to medium-low perceived bitterness that is soft and never harsh. Malt flavor is lightly grainy and supportive. The finish is juicy and off-dry with a lingering melon and citrus aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full, round, and notably velvety body. Moderate carbonation. Smooth, creamy texture with no hop harshness, astringency, or raw starchiness. Very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth.
