Appearance. Deep mahogany to nearly opaque black (SRM 30-40). Thick, creamy tan head with excellent retention and delicate lacing. Clarity is brilliant when held to the light.
Aroma. Moderate intensity. Clean wood smoke, reminiscent of beechwood, dominates initially but is well-balanced by supporting notes of bittersweet chocolate, toasted bread crust, and a hint of dark fruit. Low earthy hop character with no harsh phenolics.
Taste. Initial impression of smooth smoke and rich malt. Flavors of cocoa, roasted coffee, and light caramel are balanced by a pleasant, integrated smokiness.
