Appearance. Jet black and opaque (SRM 38+). Features a large, persistent light tan head with excellent retention and thick lacing.

Aroma. Moderate to high intensity with dominant aromas of dark chocolate and roasted coffee beans. Low citrusy hop notes are present behind the grain. Clean fermentation profile with very low dark fruit esters.

Taste. Leading with a strong roasted malt impact of bittersweet cocoa and charred coffee. Low caramel sweetness is balanced by a medium hop bitterness. The flavor is rounded out by the nutty, smooth presence of flaked oats. Finishes medium-dry with a persistent roasted aftertaste and a faint resinous hop flicker.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a notable creaminess and smooth texture from the oat adjunct. Moderate-high carbonation. Very low alcohol warmth, consistent with its sessionable strength, and minimal roast-derived astringency.
