Version 22 from Bracket Brewing is a modern, haze-forward American Pale Ale that punches well above its 4.8% ABV weight. Appearance. Pale golden (6 SRM). Opaque, thick haze with a large, creamy white head that shows excellent retention and intricate lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of tropical papaya and bright grapefruit. Underlying hints of lime and crushed berries are supported by a low, neutral, grainy-sweet malt character and subtle fruity esters.
Taste. Initial rush of juicy papaya and zesty grapefruit. The flavor is heavily hop-forward, utilizing Manilita and Motueka to provide complexity. Malt flavor is low and cracker-like, providing just enough support for the moderate bitterness. The finish is clean and slightly dry with a lingering hop presence.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a soft, velvety texture. Carbonation is moderate. No alcohol warmth is present, and the beer remains smooth without any hop-derived astringency.

Thick haze, heaps of body and more hop character than a sub 5% beer has any right to have. For the final instalment of the Bracket V1 hazy pales we've gone with a hop that has shown serious promise in our beers over the last year, Manilita. Obviously we had to pair it with Motueka 😂 Papaya and grapefruit dominate the palate and something we love, but can't quite put our finger on.
