Jelly Legs is an assertive Double IPA that showcases a vibrant collaboration between Bracket and Rocky Ridge, highlighting the punchy New Zealand hop profiles of Riwaka and Rakau. The sensory experience is led by intense aromas of crushed passionfruit, grapefruit zest, and stone fruits like apricot. On the palate, high hop saturation provides a firm bitterness balanced by a lean, neutral malt base that keeps the finish remarkably dry. At 8.4% ABV, there is a smooth, integrated alcohol warmth that supports the resinous and tropical fruit layers. It is an assertive yet clean modern interpretation focused on intense hop expression and high drinkability.
Appearance. Pours a deep gold with light orange-copper highlights (8 SRM). Topped by a moderate-sized, persistent off-white head with fine lacing. Clarity is clear with a very slight, modern hop haze.
Aroma. High to intense hop-forward bouquet featuring prominent tropical fruit, passionfruit, apricot stone fruit, and sharp grapefruit citrus. Background malt is very low, clean, and grainy. The fermentation profile is neutral with a subtle, well-integrated hint of smooth ethanol.
Taste. Initial impression is dry and hop-centric, featuring layers of resinous pine, stone fruit, and citrus. Bitterness is firm and assertive, sitting in the 70 IBU range, but remains smooth without harshness. The malt character is soft and unobtrusive, providing a clean foundation. The finish is very dry with a long, lingering hoppy and resinous aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly oily texture from high hop saturation. Carbonation is medium-high, and the beer provides a restrained, warming alcohol presence without any harsh astringency.
