This potent Double IPA presents a lush sensory experience driven by a massive dry hop of Nelson Sauvin, Riwaka, and Motueka. The aroma is dominated by candied pineapple and complex citrus, while the Nelson Sauvin contributes distinct white wine and gooseberry notes. Visually striking with a thick haze, the palate is saturated with tropical fruit flavors. A soft, pillowy mouthfeel and balanced sweetness mask the significant 10% ABV, ensuring high drinkability despite its strength. The finish is smooth and lingering, showcasing the vibrant, oily hop character of the Riwaka and Motueka without the harsh bitterness often associated with the style.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange; thick haze (opaque). Features a moderate-sized, creamy, persistent off-white head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity. Explosive tropical fruit notes of candied pineapple and passionfruit meld with lime zest and crushed white grapes. A supportive, clean, grainy maltiness sits in the background. Fermentation is clean with a very light, smooth alcohol presence.
Taste. Initial impression is a burst of tropical fruit nectar and ripe citrus. Flavors of gooseberry and white wine are prominent, supported by a soft, bready malt character. Bitterness is firm but smooth, balancing the moderate sweetness. The finish is long and saturated with hop oils, ending medium-dry with a lingering fruity aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a soft, pillowy, and creamy texture. Carbonation is moderate. Smooth alcohol warmth is noticeable but well-integrated; no harsh hop-derived astringency.
