Bowline is a vibrant American IPA that masterfully balances classic and contemporary hop profiles. This 6.7% pour is defined by the assertive, resinous pine and grapefruit notes of Chinook, which anchor the aromatic profile. Mosaic contributes layers of ripe tropical mango and blueberry, while the addition of Strata introduces a distinct dankness and complex notes of strawberry. Together, they create a saturated hop experience supported by a lean, grainy malt base. The finish is crisp and decidedly bitter, true to the style’s roots, offering a refreshing citrus-forward linger that invites the next sip.
Appearance. Pours a medium gold to light amber (approx 8 SRM) with a medium-sized, persistent white head and delicate lacing. Clarity is brilliant with a faint, crystalline shimmer.
Aroma. Intense hop aroma featuring resinous pine and spicy grapefruit from the Chinook hops, layered with Mosaic-driven tropical fruit, blueberry, and a distinct dank, strawberry-like character from the Strata. Malt is low and clean, providing a light grainy-sweet background.
Taste. Initial impression is hop-forward and assertive. Strong flavors of pine, resin, and passion fruit dominate the mid-palate, supported by a low, clean maltiness. Bitterness is firm and high but well-integrated, leading to a dry, clean finish with a lingering citrus and resinous aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-bodied with a smooth, slightly oily texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a crisp bite. A very light, smooth alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated, with no hop-derived astringency.
