Don’t Do Roads is a luminous Hazy IPA that exemplifies the collaborative mastery of modern hop expression. A sophisticated grain bill featuring Heidelberg Pilsner malt, Naked Malted Oats, Chateau Blanc Wheat, and Spelt provides a remarkably smooth, pillowy foundation for an explosive aromatic profile. Massive tropical notes of passionfruit and crushed lime from Riwaka and Citra dominate the senses, while the addition of Nelson Sauvin and concentrated Nelson Hop Kief contributes distinctive layers of white grape and gooseberry complexity. The palate is intensely juicy, delivering a vibrant medley of sun-ripened stone fruits with a soft, rounded bitterness that ensures a clean, approachable finish.
Appearance. Straw to pale gold (4–6 SRM). Opaque with a consistent, uniform haze and a luminous sheen. Pours with a dense, white, meringue-like head that exhibits high retention and leaves intricate lacing.
Aroma. High-intensity hop aroma featuring dominant tropical notes of passionfruit, mango, and lychee. Significant citrus presence resembling fresh lime and grapefruit zest. Background notes of crushed white grapes and gooseberry are evident. The malt character is low, presenting as light bread dough and fresh grain. Clean fermentation profile with supportive fruity esters.
Taste. Massive fruity hop flavors mirror the aroma, showcasing a juicy medley of pineapple, peach, and citrus. Initial impression is soft and fruit-forward with a light, grainy malt sweetness from the oats and spelt. Perceived bitterness is low to moderate and never harsh, balancing the off-dry finish. The aftertaste is clean and lingering with a persistent tropical fruit essence.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full, pillowy body with a silky, smooth texture provided by the high protein content of the grains. Carbonation is moderate. No perceived alcohol warmth or astringency. Mouthfeel is soft and rounded without being cloying.
