Boréale’s Aurore De Juin is a powerful Double IPA that showcases a vibrant 100% New Zealand hop profile. Featuring NZ Cascade, Rakau, and Southern Cross, this ale offers an explosive sensory experience characterized by intense citrus zest and ripe red fruit notes. The presence of Southern Cross provides a persistent, dank resinous quality, while the Rakau adds a wild, herbaceous edge that complicates the juicy core. Despite its 8% strength, the beer maintains a sophisticated balance, blending the opaque, hazy texture of a modern hazy ale with the assertive, punchy bitterness expected of a southern hemisphere hop showcase.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange (6-8 SRM). The beer is veiled and opaque with a moderate-sized, persistent, creamy white head that leaves significant lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent citrus, grapefruit zest, and distinctive red berry notes. A secondary pungent, dank, and resinous character is evident, supported by a neutral, light bready malt background and a clean fermentation profile.
Taste. Strong and complex hop flavors of citrus, stone fruit, and berries lead the palate. Rakau provides a resinous and slightly spicy herbaceousness. The bitterness is firm and moderately high but smooth, avoiding harshness. It features a medium-dry finish with a lingering, dank, and bitter hop aftertaste and minimal supportive malt toastiness.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a smooth, creamy texture. Carbonation is moderate. A restrained, smooth alcohol warmth is present, reflecting its strength without being solventy. No hop-derived astringency.
