This Australian Sparkling Ale presents a modern, fruit-forward interpretation of the heritage style, showcasing a vibrant aromatic profile of passionfruit, guava, and mango. The appearance is characterized by a light golden haze, reminiscent of a traditional yeast-roused pour, topped with a persistent frothy head. On the palate, initial impressions of tropical fruit sweetness are quickly balanced by a firm, spicy bitterness that transitions into a citrusy, long-lingering finish. Despite its sessionable ABV, the beer maintains a medium body and high carbonation, delivering a crisp, spritzy mouthfeel that highlights its oceanic hop influences while remaining rooted in its refreshing, highly-attenuated style origins.
Appearance. Medium gold (approx. 5 SRM) with a noticeable, persistent haze from yeast suspension. Features a tall, frothy white head with excellent retention and fine bubbles, supported by visible effervescence.
Aroma. Moderate to high intensity. Dominant tropical hop notes of passionfruit, guava, and mango are layered over a soft, grainy malt backbone. Low pome fruit esters of pear and apple are present, with a faint earthy and spicy undertone consistent with the style's heritage.
Taste. Begins with a rounded, grainy malt sweetness that is quickly overtaken by a medium-high hop bitterness. Flavors of tropical fruit lead into a complex mid-palate of peppery spice and citrus. The fermentation character is clean with moderate esters, finishing very dry and crisp with a remarkably long, firm, and slightly resinous aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, mouth-filling texture from the yeast. High carbonation provides a sharp, spritzy carbonic bite. No alcohol warmth is perceived, and the beer remains clean without astringency.
