This Cold IPA-style American IPA offers an exceptionally lean and bright sensory profile. It presents a vibrant hop-forward character, emphasizing sharp citrus and tropical fruit notes over a minimalist, crackery malt base. The fermentation is impeccably clean, reflecting its Cold IPA inspiration by stripping away esters to allow the hops to dominate the palate. A crisp, snap-dry finish and high carbonation enhance its drinkability, while a firm, lingering bitterness ensures a refreshing, palate-cleansing experience. It is a modern, streamlined expression of the American IPA, prioritizing hop clarity and a sparkling, light-bodied structure.

Appearance. Medium gold with brilliant clarity; pours with a medium-sized, persistent white head that leaves tight lacing on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring notes of grapefruit, lime zest, and fresh pine; supported by a very low, clean, grainy-sweet malt character and a neutral fermentation profile.

Taste. Prominent citrus and tropical fruit hop flavors lead to a firm, clean bitterness. The malt profile is restrained and crackery, providing just enough support for the hops without adding sweetness. The finish is very dry and crisp with a lingering, resinous hop aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, crisp texture; high carbonation levels provide a prickly, refreshing sensation; very light, smooth alcohol warmth is present.

Commercial Description:

A what, you say? A Cold I.P.A.? But what exactly is a Cold IPA?

Here at Boneface, we took our house lager yeast (these are the wee beasties that are referred to as “bottom-fermenting yeast”, whereas ale yeasts are referred to as top-fermenting yeast) and fermented this brew cool, before allowing the temperature to rise naturally before dry-hopping. This rise helps us to extract the maximum hoppy goodness from our combination of Nelson Sauvin, Citra and Mosaic dry hop. We used a solid amount of Citra and a special Centennial hop oil during brewing as well.

Appearance - Gold with a fluffy white head
Aroma - Pine needles, lemon zest, pink grapefruit juice and fresh passionfruit
Flavour - Soft, clean malt profile. Bittersweet orange soda. Medium-low bitterness and a resinous finish
