This 2018 vintage Fruit Lambic showcases an exquisite marriage of multi-year aged lambic and three distinct varieties of apricot sourced from the Rh"one valley. The sensory profile is defined by a vibrant, hazy golden-orange hue and a complex bouquet of earthy funk, leather, and sun-ripened stone fruit. On the palate, the intense tartness of the one, two, and three-year-old blend provides a sharp, acidic backbone that elevates the concentrated, jammy apricot character. Subtle notes of hay and barnyard funk from Brettanomyces linger through a bone-dry, effervescent finish, reflecting the refined, traditional blending craftsmanship of the producer.
Appearance. Hazy, deep golden to amber-orange with a thick, rocky, mousse-like white head that shows moderate persistence and light lacing.
Aroma. High intensity; dominant aromas of fermented apricot and stone fruit skin blend with classic lambic funk, including notes of barnyard, wet hay, and aged leather. Subtle lactic tartness and a hint of dusty oak are present.
Taste. Sharply acidic and bone-dry. Initial impression is a burst of tart, fermented apricot followed by a complex layer of goaty funk and earthy Brettanomyces character. Malt is nearly imperceptible; hop bitterness is absent. The finish is long, acidic, and exceptionally clean.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with high, prickly carbonation. Notable tart, puckering quality on the tongue without harshness or astringency. Very light alcohol warmth.
