Blindsided is a vibrant Hazy IPA that exemplifies the juicy archetype through a masterful blend of Citra, Amarillo, and Eclipse hops. The sensory journey begins with an explosion of mandarin orange and zesty citrus, seamlessly transitioning into lush tropical fruit notes like mango and pineapple. A soft, supportive malt base provides a light bready foundation without distracting from the hop intensity. The mouthfeel is notably smooth and plush, rounding out the experience with a gentle, restrained bitterness. At 6.9% ABV, it maintains excellent drinkability, finishing with a lingering, fruit-forward brightness that perfectly captures the modern New England-inspired profile.
Appearance. Pale gold to light amber (4–6 SRM) with a distinct, opaque haze providing a healthy shine. It is topped by a dense, white, meringue-like head with excellent retention and significant lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop-forward bouquet dominated by mandarin, sweet citrus, and tropical fruit notes. The Citra provides bright lime and grapefruit, while Eclipse adds peel-like citrus depth. A faint, clean, bready malt scent sits in the background, with no caramel or alcohol harshness.
Taste. Initial punch of juicy mango, orange, and stone fruit. Low to medium-low bitterness allows the Amarillo floral and citrus notes to shine. The malt contributes a subtle grainy sweetness that balances the hop oils. The finish is medium-dry and smooth, lacking any resinous burn or harsh astringency.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full, soft, and pillowy body. Carbonation is moderate, enhancing the creamy texture without being prickly. At 6.9%, there is a very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth that complements the fruity esters.
