This punchy American IPA builds upon a foundational blend of British pale and wheat malts to deliver a balanced yet hop-forward sensory experience. Masses of Citra hops dominate the profile, projecting a vibrant bouquet of bright citrus and delicate floral notes. Beneath the assertive hop canopy, the heritage malts provide a sturdy, supportive backbone of toasted biscuits and light caramel. The addition of wheat malt lends a smooth, satisfying texture that softens the bitterness, resulting in an infinitely drinkable ale. The finish is clean and dry, allowing the tropical zest of the Citra hops to meld seamlessly with the bready malt character.
Appearance. Deep gold to light amber (8-10 SRM) with brilliant clarity and a faint, luminous glow. Features a persistent, medium-sized white head with good lacing and fine bubbles.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by grapefruit, lemon zest, and floral blossoms from the Citra additions. Low to moderate malt presence provides scents of toasted biscuit and honeyed caramel. Fermentation is very clean with negligible esters.
Taste. Initial impression is hop-forward with citrus peel and floral flavors. A moderate, soft bitterness is balanced by a bready, biscuit-like malt profile and hints of caramel sweetness. The wheat malt adds a subtle graininess. Finishes medium-dry with a lingering, clean hop aftertaste and supportive malt notes.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light to medium body with a smooth, slightly creamy texture. Moderate to high carbonation provides a crisp, refreshing lift. Alcohol warmth is very light and well-integrated.
