Blonde Bie
This traditional Belgian Golden Strong Ale presents a sophisticated balance of power and elegance. Pouring a radiant gold, it leads with a complex bouquet of ripe pear and delicate pome fruit esters, underpinned by herbal hop notes and a refined peppery alcohol presence. Though the initial impression offers a characteristic slight sweetness from the malt, the palate quickly transitions into a dry, effervescent finish. The high fermentation character is evident in its clean yet spicy profile. At 8% alcohol, the warmth is smooth and well-integrated, complementing the crisp body to create a dangerously drinkable and spirited ale with a subtle, lingering bitterness.
Appearance. Pale gold to deep yellow color (4-6 SRM). Brilliant clarity with persistent effervescence. Forms a massive, long-lasting, rocky white head that leaves characteristic Belgian lacing as it recedes.
Aroma. High intensity bouquet featuring moderate to strong pome fruit esters, specifically pear and apple. Herbal and spicy hop character is present at a moderate level. A nearly neutral, slightly grainy-sweet malt base is accented by peppery phenols and a soft, perfumy alcohol presence.
Taste. The palate begins with a light grainy malt sweetness that is quickly overtaken by pear-like esters and spicy, peppery alcohol. Herbal hop flavors are moderate. Bitterness is medium-high but feels balanced due to the high attenuation. Finishes long and decidedly dry with a clean, spicy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body, feeling much lighter than the 8% ABV would suggest. Very high carbonation provides a sparkling, effervescent mouthfeel. Alcohol warmth is noticeable but smooth and well-integrated, lacking any harshness.
