This Dunkles Bock offers an approachable, 'customized' take on the classic German lager. The sensory profile is led by the rich, bready character of Munich and Vienna malts, delivering toasted nuances and soft Maillard notes without heavy sweetness. Despite its characterization as a 'light' dark beer, it retains a smooth, medium-bodied presence. The fermentation is exceptionally clean, allowing the delicate balance between the lightly toasted grain and subtle continental hop bitterness to shine. Garnet highlights and a creamy head invite the first sip, leading to a well-attenuated, clean finish that balances malt richness with drinkability.
Appearance. Deep copper to dark brown with brilliant garnet highlights. Crowns with a large, creamy, persistent off-white head that leaves moderate lacing.
Aroma. Moderate to high intensity of rich, bready malt and toasty Maillard products. Clean lager character with no detectable esters or hop aroma. A subtle hint of bread crust prevails.
