This Imperial Stout is a decadent sensory experience, merging deep roasted intensity with brunch-inspired sweetness. Brewed with a complex array of dark malts, it offers a robust foundation for opulent additions of coffee, pecan, and maple syrup. The result is a profile reminiscent of chocolate chip pancakes and nut-laden pralines. While the coffee provides a structured roastiness, the maple syrup and lactose elements create a plush, dessert-like character. Despite its 8% ABV, the beer remains remarkably smooth, balancing the rich, nutty notes of toasted pecans with a lingering sweetness that evokes slow, indulgent mornings without any harsh alcohol heat.
Appearance. Jet black and opaque (SRM 40+). Pours with a thick, creamy, latte-like deep tan head that shows excellent retention and leaves significant lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity aromatics of freshly roasted coffee, sweet maple syrup, and buttery pecans. Beneath the adjuncts lies a rich base of dark chocolate, cocoa, and lightly burnt grain, with subtle esters of dark dried fruits like raisins.
Taste. Intense flavors of bittersweet chocolate and praline-like nuttiness lead the palate. The coffee provides a firm roasted backbone that balances the significant sweetness of maple syrup. Malt flavors of toast and caramel support a complex profile of chocolate chip pancakes. Bitterness is moderate but masked by the residual sugar, leading to a long, sweet, and velvety finish with a lingering nutty aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and exceptionally chewy with a velvety, luscious texture. Carbonation is moderate. A gentle, smooth alcohol warmth is present but remains well-integrated in the background, complemented by a notable creaminess.
