Broken Flow is an assertive Double IPA that commands attention with its intense sensory profile. This high-gravity ale showcases a heavy-handed dry-hopping of Citra, Mosaic, and Amarillo, resulting in a saturated juice bomb experience. Expect an explosion of ripe tropical fruit, zesty citrus, and soft stone fruit notes that dominate the palate. Despite its 10% ABV strength, the malt profile remains clean and supportive, allowing the complex hop oils to shine. A firm bitterness balances the moderate sweetness, leading to a lingering, resinous finish that highlights the intricate interplay between its modern American hop varieties and a smooth, warming fermentation character.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange-copper color with a moderate-sized, persistent, off-white head. Features a slight haze consistent with heavy dry-hopping, though maintaining good overall luminosity.
Aroma. Intense hop-forward aroma featuring massive waves of tropical mango, passion fruit, and bright tangerine from the Citra and Mosaic. Subtle floral and stone fruit notes from Amarillo emerge as it warms, supported by a very low, clean, grainy malt background and a noticeable but smooth alcohol presence.
Taste. Strong, complex hop flavors mirror the aroma with punchy citrus, berry, and melon. Bitterness is high and firm but lacks harshness, cutting through a soft, bready malt foundation. The fermentation is clean and neutral, finishing dry to medium-dry with a long, hoppy aftertaste and a gentle alcohol warmth.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a smooth, velvety texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a lively lift. A significant but well-integrated alcohol warmth is present, without any harsh hop-derived astringency.
