Blackout Brewing WRDR
This Hazy IPA presents an intricate tapestry of New World hop character. The addition of Nelson hops introduces distinct notes of crushed white wine grapes and gooseberry, while Sabro contributes a creamy tropical essence reminiscent of coconut and ripe pineapple. Talus adds a sophisticated layer of pink grapefruit and subtle floral sage. Together, these hops create a vibrant sensory experience against a backdrop of soft, bready malt. The 7% ABV provides a gentle warmth that supports a plush, medium-full body, finishing with a restrained bitterness and a lingering, juicy fruitiness that defines the style's modern and approachable appeal.
Appearance. Color is straw to deep gold (4-6 SRM). It displays a characteristic opaque haze with a luminous shine and no visible particulates. The beer is topped by a dense, meringue-like white head with high retention and thick, persistent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring a complex blend of crushed grapes, gooseberry, and tropical coconut. Prominent notes of pink grapefruit and stone fruit are supported by a clean, bready, and grainy malt background. Fermentation esters are fruity and well-integrated with the hop profile.
Taste. High to very high fruity hop flavors of mango, pineapple, and citrus zest. Low bready malt flavor provides a neutral foundation. Bitterness is moderate but perceived as soft and restrained, leading into an off-dry finish. The aftertaste is long and fruit-forward, devoid of any harshness or grassy character.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a soft, silky, and plush texture. Carbonation is moderate. It offers a smooth mouthfeel with a light, well-integrated alcohol warmth and an absence of any astringency or raw starchiness.
