This opulent Imperial Stout presents a masterful layering of dessert-like complexity, driven by a rigorous two-year double-barrel aging process. The initial year in maple bourbon barrels imparts a thick, decadent sweetness, while the subsequent year in Barton 1792 bourbon barrels introduces refined oak tannins and spicy spirit character. Fragrant vanilla beans weave through a dense core of dark chocolate and espresso-like roasted malts. On the palate, rich notes of caramelized maple and dark fruit esters harmonize with a significant but smooth alcohol presence. It is a viscous, slow-sipping experience where the intense barrel influence and base malt depth create a luxurious, lingering finish.

Appearance. Jet black and opaque (40+ SRM) with a thin, mahogany-colored head that dissipates quickly, leaving heavy, oily legs on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity; dominant aromas of vanilla, maple syrup, and charred oak. Secondary notes of dark chocolate, espresso, and bourbon-soaked raisins, with a smooth, warming spirituous presence.

Taste. Initial decadent sweetness of maple and vanilla leads into a complex middle of bittersweet chocolate and black licorice. The Barton 1792 barrels contribute notes of caramel and toasted oak. Moderate bitterness provides a necessary counterpoint to the rich malt sugar, finishing with a long, warming, and sweet aftertaste of dark fruit and bourbon.

Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and exceptionally viscous with a chewy, syrupy texture. Low carbonation enhances the velvety mouthfeel, accompanied by a significant but non-solventy alcohol warmth.
