This celebratory American Barleywine offers a profound sensory journey, merging the aggressive hop bitterness of the style with the opulent depths of a 5th Anniversary barrel-aged blend. The addition of Ugandan vanilla beans softens the 12% alcohol impact, providing a creamy, floral bridge between the spicy Rye Whiskey and caramel-forward Bourbon barrel influences. Resinous hop notes and a sturdy, toasty malt framework provide structural balance. It is a viscous, contemplative ale where the initial hop punch yields to complex layers of charred oak, toasted marshmallow, and dark stone fruits, culminating in a smooth, warming, and exceptionally lingering finish.

Appearance. Color is a deep copper to medium brown (16-18 SRM) with brilliant ruby highlights and noticeable legs. The moderately-low light tan head shows limited retention, typical of high-gravity barrel-aged beers.

Aroma. High intensity featuring a complex blend of spicy rye whiskey, sweet bourbon, and aromatic floral vanilla. Underlying this is a rich, toasty malt character with notes of light caramel, complemented by moderate resiny and citrusy hop aromas and low dark fruit esters.

Taste. Initial impression is a rich malty sweetness and intense hop bitterness. Flavors of toasted bread and grainy malt are layered with charred oak, spicy rye, and creamy vanilla. Hop flavor is moderate and resinous, providing balance to the 12% ABV. The finish is long and warming with a lingering bitterness and woody tannin complexity.

Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and chewy with a velvety, luscious texture. Carbonation is low to moderate. A significant, smooth alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated, lacking any harsh solvent notes.
