This Imperial Stout presents a profound sensory journey, shaped by a full year of maturation in Dalwhinnie single malt barrels. On the nose, intense layers of bittersweet chocolate and espresso-like roasted malt intermingle with the scotch's signature heather honey and a delicate whisper of Highland peat. The palate is exceptionally rich, revealing notes of black licorice, dark raisins, and toasted oak, all supported by a firm, balancing bitterness. The Dalwhinnie influence adds a sophisticated layer of vanilla and malted grain sweetness that softens the bold, charred character. It finishes with a lingering, velvety warmth and a complex, spirit-forward elegance.

Appearance. Jet black and opaque; pours with a thick, deep tan head that shows moderate retention and leaves viscous legs on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity with dominant notes of dark chocolate, roasted coffee, and black licorice. The Dalwhinnie barrel aging introduces distinct Highland scotch aromas of heather honey, light peat smoke, and vanilla oak, complemented by dark fruit esters of prune and raisin.

Taste. Intense and complex, featuring bittersweet chocolate, charred grain, and blackcurrant. The mid-palate reveals the honeyed sweetness and toasted oak of the single malt barrel. Bitterness is firm and provides necessary balance to the high gravity. The finish is long and warming, with lingering notes of cocoa and spirit.

Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and viscous with a chewy, velvety texture. Carbonation is low to moderate. A significant but smooth alcohol warmth is present, reflecting the high gravity and barrel maturation.
