This Double IPA delivers a high-impact sensory experience dominated by the distinctive character of Nelson Sauvin and Peacherine hops. Aromas of crushed white grapes and diesel from the Nelson Bliss Hop Kief merge seamlessly with the lush, stone-fruit sweetness of Peacherine. At 9.5% ABV, it presents a powerful yet smooth profile where the high bitterness is balanced by a clean, neutral malt backbone. Expect a complex bouquet of gooseberry, ripe nectarine, and passion fruit that lingers through a crisp, dry finish. It exemplifies the modern approach to the style, focusing on saturated hop oils while maintaining impressive drinkability.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange-copper (SRM 7-10). Features a moderate-sized, persistent white head with fine lacing. Clarity is mostly clear with a very slight, hop-driven haze acceptable for the style.
Aroma. Intense and pungent hop aroma. Dominant notes of white wine grape and crushed gooseberry from Nelson Sauvin, complemented by vivid peach and nectarine esters from Peacherine. Background notes of passion fruit and light resin. Malt is low and neutral, providing a grainy support. Alcohol is noticeable but clean and non-solventy.
Taste. Prominent hop flavors reflecting the aroma—gooseberry, tropical fruit, and stone fruit. Bitterness is high and firm but lacks harshness. The malt flavor is low and soft, allowing the Nelson Bliss Hop Kief to provide intense saturated hop character. Finishes very dry with a long, lingering bitterness and tropical fruit aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, velvety texture. Carbonation is medium-high. A distinct but well-integrated alcohol warmth is present, consistent with its 9.5% strength. No hop-derived astringency.
