Blackout Brewing

This German Pils offers a modern twist on the classic style through a precise infusion of Nelson Sauvin hops. The result is a brilliantly crisp lager that balances traditional grainy-sweet malt with the distinctive sensory profile of New Zealand’s signature hop. Expect a refreshing interplay of toasted cracker and light honey notes against a backdrop of crushed white grapes and gooseberry. It pours a deep straw color with a resilient, creamy white head, delivering a firm bitterness that cleanses the palate. The dry, mineral-accented finish showcases the interplay between precise European lagering and vibrant, contemporary hop character.

Appearance. Straw to deep yellow (2–4 SRM). Brilliant clarity with a dense, creamy, long-lasting white head and excellent lacing.

Aroma. Moderately high intensity. Distinctive notes of white wine, gooseberry, and passionfruit from Nelson Sauvin hops layer over traditional floral and herbal scents. The malt provides a clean, low to medium grainy-sweet backbone with hints of toasted cracker and light honey. Very clean fermentation profile.

Taste. Initial grainy-sweet malt flavor is quickly overtaken by a firm hop bitterness and flavor. Profiles of white grape and subtle tropical fruit are balanced by a spicy, herbal quality. Medium-high bitterness (30–40 IBU) leads into a very dry, crisp finish with a lingering flinty or mineral character. Clean lager fermentation with no esters.

Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a crisp, refreshing texture. Medium to high carbonation provides a lively effervescence. No alcohol warmth or harshness; finish is sharp and clean.
