This Heaven Hill bourbon barrel-aged Imperial Stout presents a profound sensory journey. Poured jet black, it releases a high-intensity bouquet of toasted marshmallow, rich vanilla, and dark chocolate. The extended residence in bourbon casks imparts sophisticated layers of charred oak, caramel, and a warming spirit character that integrates with the deep roasted malt backbone. Expect bold notes of bittersweet cocoa and espresso, balanced by a decadent, velvety sweetness. The interplay between the woody tannins and the luxurious, chewy body highlights a harmonious, dessert-forward profile, demonstrating a masterful balance of barrel-derived complexity and intense roasted grain character.

Appearance. Jet black and opaque (40 SRM). It features a dense, deep tan head with moderate retention and thick lacing. High viscosity and alcohol content are evident through visible legs on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity aroma of dark chocolate, roasted coffee, and charred oak. Distinctive notes of marshmallow and vanilla are front and center, supported by bourbon-derived caramel and coconut. Low dark fruit esters of prune and raisin emerge as it warms, alongside a smooth, clean alcohol presence.

Taste. Initial decadent sweetness of vanilla and marshmallow leads into rich chocolate and roasted malt flavors. The Heaven Hill barrel aging provides complex oak, bourbon, and light spice notes. Bitterness is moderate but sufficient to balance the high gravity. The finish is lingering and bittersweet, with a pleasant warmth and an aftertaste of cocoa and toasted oak.

Mouthfeel. Full to very full-bodied with a thick, chewy, and velvety texture. Carbonation is low to moderate. A significant, smooth alcohol warmth is present but remains well-integrated and never harsh.
