Double Famous presents as a punchy, hop-forward Double IPA that emphasizes intensity and drinkability. The sensory profile is dominated by a vibrant array of New World hop characteristics, leaning heavily into notes of resinous pine, bright citrus zest, and ripe tropical fruit. A clean, neutral malt backbone provides necessary structural support without introducing distracting sweetness or heavy caramel tones. At 8% ABV, there is a smooth, well-integrated alcohol warmth that complements the firm, assertive bitterness. The finish is remarkably dry and crisp, ensuring that the lingering hop oils and pleasant bitterness invite the next sip rather than weighing down the palate.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange-copper (7–12 SRM). Features good clarity with only a light, acceptable haze. Crowned by a moderate-sized, persistent, off-white head that leaves consistent lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma showcasing a complex blend of grapefruit, resinous pine, and passion fruit. Supported by a low, clean, grainy-sweet malt presence. Fermentation is neutral with very subtle pear-like esters and a clean, soft alcohol note.
Taste. Initial impression is a wave of citrus and tropical hop flavors. Bitterness is moderately high to high but lacks harshness, balanced by a lean, unobtrusive malt character with a hint of toasted crackers. The mid-palate is dominated by hop resin, leading into a very dry, clean finish with a lingering, pleasant bitterness and minimal residual sweetness.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly oily texture from hop resins. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a crisp sensation. A restrained, smooth alcohol warmth is present but never solventy or hot. No perceptible astringency.
