This Double IPA delivers an assertive, multi-layered hop experience driven by a massive double dry-hop addition of Citra, Idaho 7, Simcoe, and Galaxy. The sensory profile is saturated with ripe passionfruit, juicy peach, and bright citrus zest, underpinned by a subtle, resinous pine depth. Fermentation with Kveik Hornindal yeast enhances these tropical nuances with delicate notes of dried pineapple and honey-like stone fruit. Despite its 8% ABV, the malt remains a clean, supportive backdrop, allowing the intense hop bitterness and complex fruit character to dominate a crisp, dry finish that emphasizes modern hop saturation and high drinkability.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange (8 SRM) with a moderate-sized, persistent off-white head leaving dense lacing. Displays a slight, uniform haze characteristic of heavy dry-hopping, though remains translucent.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of passionfruit, mango, and crushed pine needles. A supportive, neutral grainy maltiness sits in the background, complemented by tropical esters of pineapple and peach derived from the Kveik fermentation. Clean alcohol notes are present but restrained.
Taste. Initial impression is an explosion of citrus peel and tropical fruit. Strong flavors of grapefruit, apricot, and resinous pine follow. The malt is low and unobtrusive, providing a soft bready foundation. Bitterness is firm and assertive (75 IBU context) but lacks harshness. The finish is dry with a lingering, resinous hop aftertaste and a touch of fruity yeast complexity.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, almost creamy texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a lively prickle on the tongue. A light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is noticeable without being solventy. No hop-derived astringency.
