This Imperial Stout is a decadent sensory immersion, defined by its time in bourbon barrels and the addition of chocolate, tonka, and vanilla. It presents a deep, layered profile where rich dark chocolate and creamy vanilla coalesce against a backdrop of charred oak and spicy tonka beans, reminiscent of marzipan and cinnamon. The base malt provides intense roast and espresso notes, while the barrel aging contributes a refined bourbon warmth and wood-derived sweetness. Velvet-smooth and profoundly complex, it balances its substantial strength with a lingering, bittersweet finish that highlights the interplay between roast grains and exotic spices.

Appearance. Jet black and completely opaque (SRM 40+). Pours with a dense, dark tan to mocha-colored head that shows moderate retention and leaves viscous legs on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity aroma featuring a rich blend of bittersweet chocolate, espresso, and charred grain. Strong bourbon barrel influence contributes prominent vanilla, toasted oak, and a hint of coconut. The tonka beans add a unique, complex layer of almond, tobacco, and sweet spice. Moderate dark fruit esters like prunes and raisins are present, alongside a clean, warming alcohol note.

Taste. The initial impression is intensely flavorful and rich. Deep layers of dark chocolate and roasted malt dominate, followed by the creamy sweetness of vanilla and the spicy, nut-like character of tonka. Medium-high bitterness from roasted grains and hops provides balance to the sweet adjuncts. The finish is long and warming with lingering notes of bourbon, oak, and cocoa. Fermentation is clean, allowing the specialty ingredients to shine.

Mouthfeel. Full to very full-bodied with a thick, chewy, and velvety texture. Carbonation is low to moderate, enhancing the luscious mouthfeel. A smooth, well-integrated alcohol warmth is noticeable throughout.
