"The Splitz" is a collaborative Wild Specialty Beer that translates the nostalgic flavors of a banana split into a complex sensory experience. Ripe, confectionary banana dominates the foreground, underscored by a creamy vanilla sweetness and subtle chocolate notes that mimic the richness of ice cream. This decadent profile is balanced by a sharp, refreshing lactic acidity typical of its wild fermentation. The collaboration between Black Iris and Azvex results in a beer where the tartness of the base style highlights the fruit esters, finishing with a lingering, smooth dessert character and a crisp, clean brightness.

Appearance. Pours a deep, hazy gold with a moderate white head that dissipates quickly due to high acidity. Some sediment or particulate from the specialty ingredients may be visible; poor head retention is typical for the style.

Aroma. High intensity of ripe banana and creamy vanilla bean. A sharp lactic sourness provides a bright backdrop, complemented by faint hints of cocoa and strawberry esters from the specialty additions and wild fermentation.

Taste. Initial impression is a punch of tart lactic acidity followed immediately by a wave of sweet banana puree and vanilla. Very low hop bitterness allows the fruit and acidity to dominate the palate. The finish is moderately dry with a lingering creamy mouth-coating and a fruit-skin aftertaste.
