Bog Fire is a deeply atmospheric Saison that captures a rugged Irish terroir through the use of turf smoked malt and extensive maturation. Poured from a limited release, it presents a masterclass in integration where the Morrigan 1 house yeast contributes spicy black pepper phenols and ripe pome fruit esters against a backdrop of ancient, earthy peat smoke. Three and a half years in ex-Irish whiskey barrels have imparted sophisticated notes of vanilla, toasted oak, and a subtle spirituous warmth. This complex ale remains remarkably dry and effervescent, balancing rustic, grainy malt with a lingering, campfire-like finish that honors its farmhouse roots.

Appearance. Deep amber to copper (12–14 SRM) with moderate clarity. It supports a long-lasting, ivory-colored, dense rocky head that leaves fine Belgian lace on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity. A complex bouquet of earthy, phenolic turf smoke blends with the Morrigan 1 yeast's spicy black pepper and stone fruit esters. Distinctive Irish whiskey notes of vanilla and toasted coconut emerge alongside a light grainy malt backbone and faint floral hops.

Taste. An intricate balance of grainy malt and medicinal peat smoke leads into flavors of dried apricot and cracked pepper. The whiskey barrel provides a dry oak tannin and subtle vanilla sweetness that never cloys. Bitterness is moderate and well-integrated, concluding in a very dry, smoky, and slightly warming finish.

Mouthfeel. Medium body with high carbonation that feels lively and effervescent on the tongue. There is a noticeable but smooth alcohol warmth and a light, pleasant astringency from the oak maturation.
