Birrificio Menaresta

This Black IPA presents a striking sensory contrast, leading with an intense, exotic bouquet of tropical fruits and resinous, balsamic pine notes that pierce through its dark exterior. Despite its deep, opaque appearance, the roasted malt profile remains elegantly restrained, offering subtle echoes of dark chocolate and light-toast coffee rather than harsh char. The palate is defined by a firm bitterness and high hop saturation, where juicy stone fruit meets a cooling, herbal balsamic edge. It finishes remarkably dry and clean, balancing its 6.8% ABV with a smooth, drinkable body that masks its complexity beneath a persistent tan head.

Appearance. Deep dark brown to jet black (35–40 SRM). Opaque but with a clean, non-murky character. Features a moderate, persistent light tan head with fine lacing.

Aroma. High intensity hop-forward aroma featuring a complex blend of exotic tropical fruits, citrus zest, and a distinct resinous, balsamic pine character. Very low roasted malt presence provides a clean backdrop of faint cocoa and toasted bread; fermentation is clean with negligible esters.

Taste. Dominant hop flavors of melon, pineapple, and spicy resin are supported by a medium-low malt backbone suggesting unsweetened chocolate and cold-brew coffee. High bitterness is firm but smooth, never ashy or burnt. The finish is dry and crisp, leaving a lingering hop-driven resinous and fruity aftertaste.
