Birra Impavida Tropic Thunder
Tropic Thunder is a vibrant Hazy IPA that captures a tropical storm of flavors through its collaboration between Birra Impavida and Birrificio WAR. It presents a deep opalescent gold beneath a thick, meringue-like white head. The aroma is dominated by an intense, juicy profile of ripe mango and passionfruit, layered over succulent yellow stone fruits. A soft, bready malt backbone provides a smooth foundation, allowing the hop-derived tropical notes to shine. On the palate, the mouthfeel is remarkably round and soft, delivering a wave of fruitiness with a restrained, clean bitterness. A faint hint of herbal hop character emerges in the finish, providing balance to the lush, fruit-forward experience.
Appearance. Pale straw to deep gold (3-6 SRM). Strongly hazy to opaque with a brilliant opalescent sheen. Topped by a dense, creamy, long-lasting white head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by tropical fruit notes of mango and passionfruit. Secondary stone fruit character resembling peach and apricot. Low bready and grainy malt character in the background. Clean fermentation profile with no harsh alcohol or diacetyl.
Taste. High to very high tropical fruit flavor echoing the aroma with distinct mango and passionfruit. Moderate stone fruit character. Low to medium-low bready malt flavor. Bitterness is low to moderate but persistent, providing a clean structure without being harsh. The finish is off-dry and smooth, with a fleeting herbal hop note in the aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a soft, pillowy texture. Moderate carbonation. Very smooth and round on the palate with no astringency. Subtle, well-integrated alcohol warmth.
