This vibrant Fruit Beer reimagines the classic Weissbier profile by infusing it with lush, tropical mango. A significant 50% Wheat malt backbone provides a creamy, bread-like foundation, while the addition of mango effectively rounds out the characteristic wheat tang. Aromas of ripe stone fruit mingle with traditional clove and banana esters, characteristic of its German-inspired roots. Visually striking with its deep carmine red hue, it offers a refreshing alternative to traditional wheat beers. The interplay between the subtle bitterness of the German hops and the succulent fruit creates a balanced, easy-drinking experience that emphasizes smooth textures and a clean, fruity finish.
Appearance. Distinctive carmine red color (15-18 SRM). Thick, creamy, pinkish-white head with good retention and light lacing. Hazy to opaque appearance consistent with a high wheat content and fruit addition.
Aroma. Moderate-high intensity featuring prominent ripe mango and tropical fruit notes. Underlying bready, grainy wheat malt character. Classic fermentation esters of banana and subtle spicy clove phenols are evident, well-integrated with the fruit. Very low floral German hop aroma.
Taste. Initial impression is refreshing and fruity. Soft, bready Wheat malt flavors provide a sturdy base for the dominant, succulent mango fruit character. Low hop bitterness and minimal flavor from the German hops. The yeast contributes light banana and clove notes that complement the tropical fruit. Balanced toward the fruit without being cloying; the mango effectively softens the typical wheat tartness. Finishes clean and slightly dry with a lingering tropical aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a notable creaminess and smooth texture from the 50% Wheat malt. Moderate to high carbonation provides a refreshing prickle. Very low alcohol warmth consistent with 5.4% ABV. Smooth, non-astringent mouthfeel.
