Big Pot Smoozilla is a decadent Wild Specialty Beer crafted as a thick, fruit-laden nectar. This collaboration features an intense aromatic profile where the citrus zest of kalamansi and the lush sweetness of peach intertwine with the earthy depth of blackberry and sharp raspberry. Two varieties of grapes add a sophisticated vinous character and structural complexity. The wild fermentation introduces a refreshing lactic acidity that balances the heavy fruit load, leading to a vibrant, multi-layered experience. Its palate is a kaleidoscope of tart forest berries and tropical citrus, finishing with a crisp, dry fruit-skin snap that belies its viscous, smoothie-like appearance.
Appearance. Opaque, deep ruby-purple with a thick, pulpy consistency. Pours with a dense, pink-tinted head that shows moderate to low retention, leaving a stained lace on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity aromatics of fresh peach puree and zesty kalamansi. Background notes of jammy blackberry and tart raspberry are prominent, complemented by a vinous grape must character and a very faint, clean lactic funk.
Taste. Initial sharp tartness of kalamansi and red grape skins gives way to succulent peach and dark berry flavors. The acidity is firm but well-integrated, enhancing the fruit perception. No hop bitterness is present. The finish is dry and lingering, with a clean, berry-focused aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a creamy, nectar-like viscosity from the heavy fruit addition. Moderate carbonation provides a necessary lift to the dense texture. Very slight tannic astringency from berry seeds and grape skins.
