Bierol Mountain Pale Ale
Bierol Mountain Pale Ale is a robust, alpine-inspired interpretation of the American IPA, bridging the gap toward a stronger double style. It showcases an intricate hop architecture where Citra and Amarillo drive intense notes of tropical fruit and stone fruit, complemented by the distinct tangerine zest of Mandarina Bavaria. Traditional Cascade adds a floral, resinous layer, while Magnum ensures a clean, assertive bitterness. A substantial malt backbone provides a bready, honey-like support that balances the high 7.3% ABV. Despite its complexity and potent strength, the beer retains remarkable drinkability, finishing with a crisp, mountain-spring-water clarity and lingering citrus oil character.
Appearance. Medium gold to light copper (8–12 SRM); brilliant clarity; medium-sized off-white head with excellent persistence and intricate lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of tangerine, grapefruit, and mango, supported by a light resinous pine and floral undertone. Low, clean, grainy-sweet maltiness with a hint of toasted bread; fermentation is very clean with a faint, smooth alcohol presence.
Taste. An initial punch of citrus and tropical fruit leads into a medium-low bready malt sweetness. Hop flavors of orange peel, lychee, and resin are dominant. Bitterness is medium-high and clean, providing a firm counterpoint to the malt. The finish is medium-dry with a lingering, hoppy aftertaste of grapefruit pith and floral spice.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly oily texture; medium-high carbonation provides a crisp bite. A light, pleasant alcohol warmth is present but remains well-integrated without any harshness.

In het dal net ten zuiden van Kufstein, halverwege op de berg en met een geweldig exclusief restaurant er bij. Volgend jaar mag ik er zelf heen. Ohja, de smaken in het kort: Hoppig en exotisch met wat karamelmoutigheid en een krachtige afdronk.
