Rog & Roll reimagines the classic Weissbier by incorporating rye to enhance its traditional spicy character. This hazy, straw-colored ale opens with a vibrant bouquet of banana esters and distinct clove phenols, layered over a bready, doughy wheat base. The addition of rye introduces a subtle, peppery earthiness that sharpens the finish without overshadowing the soft Pilsner malt profile. Highly carbonated and effervescent, it delivers a fluffy, creamy mouthfeel that transitions into a crisp, refreshing dryness. It is a harmonious marriage of yeast-driven fruitiness and a unique, spicy grain complexity that elevates the refreshing nature of the style.
Appearance. Straw to gold (3-5 SRM). Very thick, moussy, and long-lasting white head with excellent lacing. Hazy with a luminous quality due to the wheat and rye content.
Aroma. Moderate to high intensity. Prominent banana esters and spicy clove phenols are well-balanced. Bready, doughy wheat malt aroma is supplemented by a distinctively spicy and slightly earthy rye note. Very low floral hop aroma.
Taste. Initial bready and grainy-sweet Pilsner malt flavors. Balanced banana and clove yeast character is evident. The rye addition provides a fine spicy twist, adding a peppery complexity. Very low bitterness (approx. 10-15 IBU). Finishes dry and refreshing with a lingering soft grain and spice aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light to medium body with a fluffy, creamy fullness. High carbonation creates a spritzy, effervescent sensation. No alcohol warmth; smooth and refreshing.
