Retaliation is a saturated Hazy IPA that showcases an aggressive double dry-hop regimen of Simcoe, Comet, and Mosaic Cryo. The sensory profile is led by a dense burst of tropical mango and vibrant blueberry from the Mosaic Cryo, immediately followed by the zesty, grapefruit-forward punch of Comet. Simcoe provides a necessary grounding layer of earthy pine and ripe passion fruit. These intense hop characters are supported by a soft, bready malt base that provides a plush foundation without any caramel interference. It delivers a velvety, juice-like experience where a restrained bitterness allows the complex fruit expressions to linger through a clean, off-dry finish.
Appearance. Straw to deep gold (4-6 SRM) with a characteristically opaque, hazy glow. Features a dense, meringue-like white head with excellent retention and significant lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring a complex blend of mango, blueberry, and passion fruit. Prominent citrus notes of grapefruit and lime zest are present alongside a subtle resinous pine. The malt character is low and neutrally grainy, providing a clean background for fruity yeast esters.
Taste. Initial impression is a massive wave of tropical and stone fruit flavors, mirroring the aroma with blueberry and pineapple dominance. The malt flavor is low, suggesting bready wheat and flaked oats. Hop bitterness is low to medium-low, well-masked by a soft water profile and full body. The finish is smooth and off-dry, with a lingering fruit-skin aftertaste and no hop harshness.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a soft, pillowy texture. Carbonation is moderate. It possesses a smooth, round mouthfeel with a faint, well-integrated alcohol warmth and no astringency.
