This Imperial Stout presents an imposing sensory profile defined by deep, roasty-burnt malt layers of bittersweet chocolate and espresso. The collaborative effort with Strange Brew showcases a significant American Oak influence, weaving threads of creamy vanilla and toasted coconut through a dense fabric of dark fruit esters, specifically dried plums and raisins. A velvety, viscous texture carries the 11.5% alcohol with a sophisticated, integrated warmth. The finish is long and bittersweet, where the firm hop bitterness meets the drying tannins of the wood, resulting in a complex, harmonious expression of barrel-aged decadence.

Appearance. Opaque, jet black in the glass with a persistent, deep tan head. High viscosity is apparent through thick legs that cling to the glass upon swirling.

Aroma. High intensity aroma featuring a blend of dark chocolate, roasted coffee beans, and black licorice. The American Oak contributes prominent notes of vanilla and light wood smoke, complemented by moderate esters suggesting prunes and figs.

Taste. A massive initial impression of cocoa and charred grain, followed by a mid-palate of dark fruit and caramel sweetness. The American Oak influence adds layers of vanilla and toasted oak. Firm bitterness balances the rich malt, leading to a moderately dry, warming finish with lingering notes of espresso and dark chocolate.

Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and exceptionally chewy with a velvety, luscious texture. Carbonation is low to moderate. A smooth, gentle alcohol warmth is noticeable but well-integrated, lacking any harshness or solvent qualities.
