This Double IPA showcases a vibrant, multi-layered hop profile driven by heavy additions of Triumph, NZ Cascade, and Nelson Sauvin. The sensory experience is led by prominent notes of white wine grapes, gooseberry, and passion fruit from the Nelson Sauvin, complemented by the delicate floral citrus and lychee notes of NZ Cascade. Triumph adds depth with nuances of peach and orange zest. A lean, neutral malt backbone ensures these hop characteristics remain front and center, leading to a clean, dry finish. Despite its strength, the beer maintains high drinkability with a firm but smooth bitterness and a gentle, integrated warmth.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange with a slight, modern haze. Features a moderate-sized, persistent white head with fine lacing and good retention.
Aroma. High intensity hop-forward bouquet featuring distinct white wine, crushed gooseberry, and tropical passion fruit. Secondary notes of peach, lime, and floral pink grapefruit emerge, supported by a very low, neutral grainy malt presence and a clean fermentation profile.
Taste. Intensely hoppy with flavors of Sauvignon Blanc grapes, ripe stone fruit, and citrus zest. Bitterness is high but clean and devoid of harshness or vegetable notes. A soft, unobtrusive malt character provides a brief platform before a very dry, lingering hoppy finish and clean aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly creamy texture. Moderate-high carbonation provides a crisp lift, accompanied by a restrained, smooth alcohol warmth without any harsh astringency.
