Bennebroecks Het Hoppige Hert is a vibrant American IPA that captures a fresh and fruity character within its gold-colored frame. The sensory profile is defined by a prominent hop presence, delivering bright citrus and tropical fruit notes that suggest the use of expressive New World hop varieties. A clean, grainy malt backbone provides just enough support without overshadowing the hop-forward balance. Appearance. Color is medium gold (approx. 7 SRM) with brilliant clarity. Pours with a medium-sized, persistent white head that leaves consistent lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring notes of citrus zest, tropical fruit, and a hint of pine. Low, clean, grainy maltiness provides a neutral background, while fermentation is clean with very light pear-like esters.
Taste. Initial impression is hop-forward with flavors of grapefruit and mango. Medium-high bitterness is firm but smooth, supported by a low, bready malt character. Finishes dry and clean with a lingering hoppy and bitter aftertaste; no harshness or heavy caramel notes.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, soft texture. Moderate to medium-high carbonation provides a refreshing prickle. Very light, clean alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated.
