Belgh Brasse Mons D'Abbaye Quadrupel

This Belgian Dark Strong Ale offers a deep, monastic complexity driven by a base of Pilsen, Pale Ale, and Munich malts that provide a bready, toasted foundation. The aroma is a rich tapestry of dark fruits like figs and raisins, complemented by the herbal and subtly minty nuances of Tettnanger and Polaris hops. On the palate, the mild bitterness of Styrian Golding provides a structural counterpoint to the dark caramel malt core. Expect a smooth, warming experience where the 10.5% ABV is well-integrated, presenting notes of plum and subtle black pepper. The finish is deceptively dry, highlighting the purity of Abitibi Esker water.
Appearance. Deep copper to dark coppery-brown (approx. 20 SRM). Huge, dense, and persistent light tan-colored head with excellent lacing. The liquid is clear with brilliant clarity.
Aroma. High intensity with a complex blend of rich, bready-toasty malt and dark caramel notes. Prominent esters of raisins, prunes, and dried cherries. Subtle spicy phenols of black pepper and vanilla. Low herbal and spicy hop character from the Polaris and Tettnanger. A soft, perfumy alcohol presence is noticeable.
Taste. Rich and complex maltiness featuring toasted bread and dark fruit flavors like figs and dates. The bitterness from Styrian Golding is medium-low, providing just enough balance to the malty sweetness. Alcohol warmth is smooth and harmoniously blended with spicy yeast phenols. The finish is moderately dry, avoiding any syrupy or heavy lingering sweetness.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a creamy, smooth texture. High carbonation provides a lively sensation without being sharp. Noticeable alcohol warmth is pleasant and never solvent-like. Low astringency.
