This innovative take on a German Pils showcases the vibrant synergy between traditional lager precision and Southern Hemisphere hop character. The foundation features crisp, grainy malt notes reminiscent of toasted crackers, but the focus shifts rapidly to the intense fresh hop profile. Nelson Sauvin provides a distinctive, raw green quality with grassy, chlorophyll-like depth, while Motueka layers in a playful complexity of juicy fruit and sweet bubble gum. Despite the modern hopping, the beer remains exceptionally dry and refreshing, delivering a firm, clean bitterness that lingers against a brilliant, golden backdrop, balancing New World intensity with old-world drinkability.
Appearance. Brilliant, pale straw to deep yellow (3 SRM). Features a thick, creamy, long-lasting white head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. High hop intensity led by fresh, green, and grassy Nelson Sauvin notes. Subtle underlying doughy and cracker-like malt sweetness. Motueka adds a unique fruity layer of bubble gum and tropical hints. Clean fermentation with no esters or sulfur.
Taste. Crisp malt foundation of toasted crackers is quickly overtaken by aggressive hop flavors. Fresh Nelson Sauvin contributes a punchy chlorophyll and grassy character, balanced by the juicy fruit and bubble gum flavors of Motueka. Firm bitterness drives a bone-dry, clean finish with a lingering herbal and fruity aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with high carbonation that enhances the crispness. Very light alcohol warmth from the 5.8% ABV. Smooth, with no harshness or astringency.
