This easy-drinking American Pale Ale is defined by a vibrant hop profile featuring Eldorado and Citra, delivering a wave of tropical pineapple, mango, and zesty citrus fruit. Brewed with a base of pale malt supplemented by oats and wheat, the beer offers a soft, pillowy texture that belies its sessionable strength. Fermentation with London 3 yeast adds subtle fruity esters that enhance the stone fruit character of the hops. Glug is a refreshing, bright, and modern interpretation of the style, balancing a crisp bitterness with a delicate, grainy malt sweetness for an effortlessly drinkable, clean finish.
Appearance. Pale golden color (5 SRM) with a slight, modern haze from the addition of oats and wheat. Pours with a moderately large, white, creamy head featuring good retention and light lacing.
Aroma. Moderate-high intensity featuring prominent tropical fruit notes of pineapple and mango from Eldorado hops, alongside grapefruit and lime zest from Citra. A low, soft bready malt character and subtle fruity esters from the London 3 yeast support the hop-forward profile.
Taste. Initial impression is a burst of tropical stone fruit and bright citrus. The flavor follows the aroma with melon and mango leading into a crisp grapefruit bitterness. A lean, grainy malt backbone from the pale malt and wheat provides balance. Bitterness is moderate (approximately 35 IBU) and well-integrated, leading to a dry, clean, and refreshing aftertaste with lingering hop oils.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, slightly creamy texture derived from the oats. Carbonation is moderate-high, providing a lively prickle on the tongue. Alcohol warmth is negligible, ensuring high drinkability without any astringency.
