Beavertown Gamma Ray
This American Pale Ale presents a vibrant, juicy profile driven by a heavy-handed addition of Amarillo, Columbus, and Bravo hops. The aroma is an explosion of tropical fruit and zesty citrus, supported by resinous pine notes and a touch of dankness. On the palate, a delicate malt backbone featuring Simpsons Best, Caragold, and Caramalt provides a soft, bready sweetness and hints of honey to balance the firm, clean bitterness of Magnum. It finishes crisp and refreshing with a lingering grapefruit zest. This beer expertly showcases a modern hop-forward character while maintaining the drinkability and balance essential to the style, delivering a bright, aromatic experience.
Appearance. Deep golden to pale amber (7-9 SRM). Pours with a large, frothy white head that exhibits excellent retention and leaves thick lacing on the glass. Generally clear with a very slight haze from dry-hopping.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of grapefruit, orange, and mango, complemented by a resinous, piney undertone. Low to moderate malt sweetness provides a supportive background of lightly toasted bread and honey. Fermentation is clean with very low fruity esters.
Taste. Initial impression is hop-forward with flavors of citrus peel and tropical fruit. A light-to-moderate malt presence offers flavors of biscuit and subtle caramel, providing enough balance for the firm bitterness. The bitterness is clean and well-integrated. The finish is medium-dry and crisp, with a lingering aftertaste of citrus zest and pine resin.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with moderate to high carbonation that provides a prickly, refreshing sensation. The finish is smooth and clean without any perceived astringency or harshness from the hops.
