This Specialty IPA offers a sophisticated and bone-dry experience that artfully blends the effervescent characteristics of a Brut IPA with the complex structure of a dark ale. The sensory journey begins with an assertive hop-forward presentation, showcasing resinous pine and bright citrus notes that lead the charge. Despite the influence of restrained, debittered roasted malts which provide subtle hints of chocolate, the palate remains remarkably lean and crisp. A distinct alcoholic warmth is felt immediately, harmonizing with a firm bitterness that lingers into an exceptionally dry finish. The result is a punchy, clean, and meticulously balanced beer where hops and alcohol remain the primary focus.
Appearance. Dark brown to near-black in color (30-40 SRM); topped with a persistent, moderate-sized light tan head; clear visibility with no murkiness.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring resinous pine, citrus peel, and light tropical fruit; supported by low-intensity notes of toasted bread and a hint of dark chocolate; clean fermentation profile with a noticeable but pleasant alcohol presence.
Taste. Initial impression is bone-dry and hop-centric; hop flavors of resin and grapefruit dominate over a light, non-roasted malt base of cocoa and toast; medium-high bitterness that is firm but not harsh; finishes extremely dry and clean with a lingering citrus and bitter aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a crisp, sophisticated thinness; moderate to high carbonation provides a lively tingle; noticeable alcohol warmth is present but integrated; very low astringency.
