This Double IPA is a thick and vibrant collaboration, pouring a bright yellow and saturated with an intense Southern Hemisphere and American hop profile. Utilizing Citra, Motueka, Nelson, Riwaka, and Galaxy, the sensory experience is dominated by a lush canopy of tropical and citrus fruits. Expect vivid layers of succulent mango, zesty orange, and sharp grapefruit, complemented by a unique note of candied pear. The mouthfeel is substantial yet maintains the high drinkability expected of the style. It delivers a clean, modern bitterness that balances the soft malt backbone, resulting in a complex and fruit-forward finish.
Appearance. Bright yellow with a deep, saturated haze (6 SRM). Topped by a dense, persistent white head that leaves significant lacing as it recedes.
Aroma. Intense hop aroma featuring heavy notes of tropical mango, crushed lime from the Motueka, and the characteristic white wine and gooseberry of Nelson. Supporting notes of citrus peel and subtle resinous pine. Malt is neutral and serves as a quiet, grainy background.
Taste. Bold hop-forward flavors mirroring the aroma: juicy orange and grapefruit lead into a complex mid-palate of mango and candied pear. Moderately high bitterness that remains smooth and lacks harshness. Finishes dry to medium-dry with a lingering fruity character and a clean, supportive malt graininess.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a soft, thick texture and smooth creaminess. Moderate carbonation. Contains a well-integrated, smooth alcohol warmth from the 8% ABV without being solventy or hot.
