This modern American IPA showcases a vibrant hop profile driven by El Dorado, Citra, and Motueka. It opens with an intense bouquet of candied tropical fruits, bright grapefruit, and a distinct zesty lime character. The pale malt provides a clean, neutral canvas, allowing the complex hop layers of watermelon, mango, and mojito-like citrus to take center stage. At 6.5% ABV, it strikes a balance between a smooth, medium body and a crisp, refreshing finish. The bitterness is firm yet well-integrated, leading to a lingering, resinous aftertaste that celebrates the contemporary spirit of the style while maintaining a clean fermentation profile.
Appearance. Color is a vibrant medium gold (approx 7 SRM) with a slight, modern haze. Features a medium-sized, off-white head with excellent persistence and intricate lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by tropical notes of mango and pineapple from Citra and El Dorado. Distinctive lime zest and lemon oil from Motueka accompany subtle stone fruit and melon. Malt is low and clean with a light grainy character.
Taste. Initial impression is hop-forward with flavors of grapefruit, pear, and tropical candy. Hop bitterness is medium-high but remains smooth and supportive. The malt flavor is low, providing a neutral cracker-like base. Finishes dry and clean with a lingering citrus and resinous aftertaste.
