Beak Brewery Weather
This bracingly bitter Specialty IPA pours crystal clear, delivering a modern yet nostalgic homage to West Coast brewing. Saturated in classic West Coast hop oils, the aroma bursts with resinous pine, sharp grapefruit rind, and damp earth driven by Centennial and Chinook hops. The palate is defined by a crisp, spicy rustic grain character from the rye malt, which cuts cleanly through a lean, dry bready backbone. A firm, assertive bitterness grips the tongue, resolving into a dry, resinous, and highly refreshing finish that highlights the harmonious marriage of spicy grain and intense, piney hops.
Appearance. Pours a brilliant, clear deep gold to light amber with a frothy, persistent off-white head that leaves dense, sticky lacing as it recedes.
Aroma. High intensity hop-forward aroma featuring dominant pine resin, fresh grapefruit peel, and dank herbal notes. This is layered over a distinct peppery, rustic rye spiciness and a very low, clean, supportive bready malt sweetness with clean fermentation and zero yeast esters.
Taste. Bracingly bitter and exceptionally clean. Immediate flavors of resinous pine, citrus oils, and pithy grapefruit peel. A sharp, spicy rye grain character emerges mid-palate, cutting through a light, clean crackery malt base. Finishes bone-dry with a lingering, intense, yet smooth hop bitterness and a clean, crisp aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a crisp, slightly drying texture enhanced by the rye grain. Carbonation is moderate-high. There is a clean, refreshing mouthfeel with a very subtle, well-integrated alcohol warmth and no harsh astringency.
