This Hazy IPA offers an immersive sensory experience led by the saturated punch of Nelson Sauvin and Nectaron. The pour reveals a dense, glowing opacity characteristic of the style, while the aromatics erupt with high-intensity notes of crushed white grapes and stone fruit. On the palate, Mosaic and Vic Secret provide a lush backdrop of blueberry compote and ripe white peach. The malt profile is soft and bready, supporting a remarkably smooth mouthfeel that balances a moderate bitterness. It finishes with a clean, fruity resonance, showcasing the classic tropical depth and juicy complexity expected from this New Zealand-forward hop blend.

Appearance. Straw to deep gold (3-6 SRM) with a brilliant, opaque haze that creates a luminous shine. Topped by a dense, rocky, meringue-like white head with exceptional retention and intricate lacing.

Aroma. High intensity aromatics dominated by tropical and pome fruits. Nelson Sauvin provides distinct gooseberry and white grape notes, while Nectaron adds intense peach and nectarine scents. Hints of blueberry from Mosaic emerge alongside a clean, bready malt presence. No herbal or grassy notes; fermentation esters are complementary and fruity.

Taste. An explosion of fruity hop flavors mirroring the aroma. Initial impressions of juicy white peach and white grapes transition into a rich blueberry compote mid-palate. Low to moderate bitterness is present but softened by a full, rounded body. The malt is lightly bready and grainy, providing a neutral stage for the hops. Finish is off-dry and smooth, avoiding any hop harshness.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a characteristically soft, plush texture. Carbonation is moderate, contributing to a smooth, non-acidic mouthfeel. A subtle, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present at 6.5% ABV, with zero astringency or hop burn.

Beak are a small independent brewery and taproom in the historic brewing town of Lewes. They love making everything from hop-forward IPAs and best bitters to saisons and imperial stouts. Beak also have a mixed fermentation project centered around a 5,000 litre oak foudre, which they use to create beers that showcase ingredients from the surrounding South Downs National Park, including native hops, wild yeast strains and grain grown just down the road.
