This sessionable American Pale Ale delivers a vibrant sensory experience that belies its approachable strength. A heavy double dry-hop addition of Citra and British Harlequin defines the profile, bursting with high-intensity aromatics of ripe peach, tropical pineapple, and tangy passion fruit. The use of Citra provides a sharp citrus backbone, while the British Harlequin adds distinct floral nuances. A clean, neutral malt base allows these hop characteristics to remain front and center. Despite its light frame, the beer offers a punchy hop depth and a crisp, chuggable finish, making it a bright and refreshing tribute to North Yorkshire.
Appearance. Pours a pale golden color with a moderately large, white, frothy head that exhibits good retention and leaves light lacing. Clarity is generally clear to slightly hazy, consistent with a modern double dry-hopped presentation.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by tropical and stone fruits. Prominent notes of pineapple and passion fruit lead, supported by juicy peach and a bright citrus zest. A delicate floral undertone is present. The malt character is low and neutral, providing a faint hint of cracker-like graininess. Esters are low and clean.
Taste. The initial impression is hop-forward, mirroring the aroma with vibrant flavors of peach, pineapple, and citrus. Hop bitterness is moderate to firm, providing a clean counterpoint to the lean malt profile. Malt flavors are subtle, suggesting fresh bread or neutral grain. The fermentation is clean, allowing the interplay of hops to shine. It finishes medium-dry with a lingering but pleasant tropical hop aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Light to medium-light body with moderate to high carbonation that enhances the beer's refreshing and sessionable quality. There is no detectable alcohol warmth. The finish is smooth and clean, devoid of any harshness or astringency.
